The oil filter acts as the first barrier protecting your engine from contaminants that can harm oil quality and shorten its life. A subpar filter performance and contaminants in the oil can cause early engine component wear and possible failure. The OEM filter provides only 259 square inches of filtration at 25 microns and employs a weak leaf spring, which diminishes the seal’s effectiveness and lets dirty oil bypass the filter media.
